Not being in my 20s, I don’t automatically embrace all the latest technologies or what those technologies can do right away, if at all. Case in point. The ability to twitter or “tweet” a video. Ok, I can understand the need of some people, particularly those with businesses to get a short message out right away. But video? Actually setting a camera on a tripod, sitting down and saying……………..what? Pearls of wisdom about the weather? Your mood? The fact that you hate traffic? Your indigestion?
Now, I’m a video production person and I love using video to tell a story but to me, videotaping yourself for possibly less than 30 seconds is so trivial, as to be ridiculous.
On the other hand, doing a ten, thirty or sixty second promo for a TV show or a live event is quite common in traditional TV, so why not on the Net? Also, a video statement from someone can show subtleties of emotion that no amount of text ever can. For politicians, someone hawking a product, religion, a cause, there’s really nothing like a video, for all the reasons we know for longer form videos. Why should a “Tweet-like” video be any different just because it’s shorter.
As I said, I don’t automatically embrace all the latest technologies when they debut. I’m open minded. But,…………. I may have to be convinced……by a “Tweet” video?

Hi Leonard. I want to invite you to think for a moment in a farmer that uses lots of equipment to plant, grow and crop corn. This farmer's life spins around his farm. He doesn't drive a car. He drives a huge pick up truck because he needs it to accomplish all the tasks.
When this farmer sees a Car's Magazine. He criticizes the new Mini Cooper. It's more expensive than a pick up truck, less room, it cannot carry heavy stuff from one place to the other. The farmer sees useless and ridiculous the Mini Cooper. He will never buy one of those. The fact is that not every body is a farmer and needs a pick up truck.
Tweeting a video is a great tool for communication. It's fast, easy, simple and get the point across. It's not the most beautiful and ultimate way of art. However, if we think for a moment. Some of the messages are inviting "to watch a movie in my house or the Football game ". Now a days there are more movie fans than in the past. These new technologies help introduce the concept of video. People will appreciate much more a well made video because they have done it too and they can see for themselves that takes a little bit more than just a camera or a phone to make a really good and compelling video.
In my personal experience I will try to use my video knowledge to combine it with the tweet video and help to get the point a cross in a much more sophisticated way.... cause I love video.
Apply what you know to the new technology and you'll see how people will start appreciate the ultimate video production.
Until next time Leonard.
